SIAT YOUNG 2019 / the competition

SIAT, the Società degli Ingegneri e degli Architetti in Torino with CNH Industrial and the City of Turin are promoting SIAT YOUNG 2019, the second edition of the international Competition if ideas for young designers.

The Competition is destined principally for graduates and students of Architecture, Engineering, Design and the Fine Arts Academies, who do not necessarily hold a professional title. Multidisciplinary groups can be created embracing all the arts and science disciplines. In particular, due to the specific nature of this edition of the Competition, it is hoped that graduates and students in the disciplines of agricultural and forestry sciences and technologies will also be part of the groups.

The 2019 edition of the Competition emerges as a model of correct practice linked to the life-product cycle of wood. The wooden pallets no longer needed by CNH Industrial will be used as a building material to furnish and enhance part of the urban park of Piazza d’Armi in Turin.

Contestants are required to present an overall intervention proposal on the Competition area, providing one or more solutions of furnishing structures mainly for recreational purposes and for encouraging socialization.

Deadline: 12.00 (noon) of 31 March 2020

Awards:

Award for first place: 1,500.00 euro

Award for second place: 1,200.00 euro

Award for third place: 800.00 euro

The following will also be granted:

– certificate of merit for the selected proposals (first, second and third ranked, special mentions)

– publication in A&RT of the Catalogue of the Competition of all participating proposals

– publication of the selected proposals in the journal Il Giornale dell’Architettura

– reimbursement of expenses of 3,750.00 euro for participation in the Workshop (first and second phases) for first-placed project

– prototyping of first-placed project

– realization of first-placed project
